We are pleased to announce the launch of a comprehensive Professional Development Program designed to elevate the skills, knowledge, and expertise of our team at the Afghanistan Health Assessment Center, a dedicated Migration Health Clinic in Afghanistan. This pioneering initiative underscores our unwavering commitment to aligning our practices with international standards and best practices established by reputable global health and migration organizations.
The program comprises a series of 20 intensive training sessions scheduled over the next 20 weeks, carefully structured to ensure a progressive and holistic enhancement of our capabilities. The overarching aim is to strengthen local capacities, promote adherence to internationally recognized standards—including those set by the World Health Organization (WHO), International Organization for Migration (IOM), International Panel Physician Association (IPPA) and other relevant bodies—and to foster a culture of continuous improvement and excellence in healthcare delivery.
At the core of this initiative is our dedication to providing high-quality health assessment services that meet not only national requirements but also uphold global benchmarks for accuracy, efficiency, and ethical practice. We recognize that investing in capacity building is critical for achieving better health outcomes among migrant populations and for supporting Afghanistan’s commitments to international health and migration frameworks.
The training sessions are rooted in meticulously developed course materials produced in Europe by the International Panel Physician Association (IPPA) in Portugal, which adhere to rigorous international standards of curriculum design and clinical practice.
This developmental program is a collaborative effort—bringing together national stakeholders, international partners, and subject matter experts—to bolster the center’s capacity to meet and exceed international standards in migration health assessments. Through this initiative, we aim to enhance service quality, ensure regulatory compliance, and ultimately contribute to a sustainable health system that upholds the dignity, health, and human rights of all migrants.
The AHAC Capacity-Building and Professional Development Program is one of the key initiatives of the Afghanistan Health Assessment Center (AHAC) aimed at strengthening professional knowledge, enhancing staff capabilities, and continuously improving the quality of healthcare and assessment services.
As part of our ongoing commitment to professional development, AHAC organizes capacity-building programs that provide our specialists, physicians, and colleagues with opportunities to expand their knowledge, strengthen practical skills, and benefit from national and international expertise.
This program was supported through valuable international collaboration with Mauricio Scarpello from Argentina, whose expertise, guidance, and professional experience contributed to the development and strengthening of our team’s capacities.
